BYTOWN [6:25] 2017, experimental short film.

BYTOWN is set in Canada’s National Capital Region during the lead up to the country’s 150th
anniversary celebration. The film unfolds within a hierarchical framework of security and
pomp-and-circumstance, street-level vignettes of ambiguous, subtitled interviews, and glitchy
montages of night walks and rooming house interiors. An opening monologue sets a pensive yet
urgent tone:

“... but I, I never sleep... how, how, how do you sleep? (...) How do you, how do you sleep with a peace of mind?”
